The Richmond arena canteen is a 100% volunteer-based operation with all profits going back into our hockey program.
Canteen Duty Schedule:
Forget when you are on duty at the canteen? Check out the schedule here.
Available Canteen Duties:
Contact the Canteen Schedule at canteen.scheduler@gmail.com to book your canteen duties. (Please include your phone number for ID purposes.) If you have not done so by November 30th 2008, it will be assumed that you are participating in the buy out option and your cheque will be cashed with the rest of the buy out cheques on January 1st 2009.
All duties are to be completed in full and there are to be no early closing without notifying the Canteen Scheduler. Early closure and late arrival result in lost revenue as well as disappointment for parents and players.
Volunteering Requirement:

1) Three – 3 hour canteen duties. Sign up to be done at registration, during tryouts, on picture day or through a mail-out notification.
2) Two - 4.5 hour canteen duties.
3) Six – 1.5 hour canteen support duty shifts, i.e. canteen restocking, supply shopping, cash reconciliation, cleaning of the fryer etc. Training will be provided. NOTE: Head coaches, executive members, sub-committee members, Juvenile and Osgoode-Richmond Senators players are exempt from canteen duties.
Duty Responsibility:
Canteen duty is the responsibility of the parents of RMMHA players. Once you have signed up for a duty it is your responsibility to cover it. If you cannot make a shift, you must arrange for someone to cover your shift for you. A phone list of trained on-call people is available at the arena lobby on the Canteen bulletin board beside the Senior’s Room. You must also arrange to pay them $30 ($10/hour) for every 3 hour shift they work for you.
Please note that anyone who works the canteen alone must be 18 years or older or a on-call person that has been trained by the canteen coordinator (the on-call phone list is posted on the glass enclosed board to the left of the seniors room)
We understand that it's often difficult to work your canteen shift when you have children at home. Children and siblings are permitted to join you while you do canteen duty, but for safety reasons a maximum of 4 people are allowed in the canteen area at any time.
Please enjoy a comlimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate or slushie while you are working your shift - all other food, snacks or beverages must be purchased.
First Timers:
If the canteen is locked when you get there track down the arena staff, they have the key. Written instructions are posted everywhere in the canteen. The cash register operations are in a booklet on the shelf under the machine – it’s quite easy. If you are the last shift, simply follow all posted instructions for closing, lock the canteen on the way out and return key to arena staff. If you would feel better with on-site training just contact the Canteen Coordinator to arrange it. Remember have fun!!!
Missed Duty Policy:
If you miss your first or second scheduled duties all remaining duties will be cancelled and you will be moved to the buy-out option and your $100 cheque will be cashed.
If you miss your third duty, your $100 cheque will be cashed with a $50 refund mailed to you.
