CHANGES TO COMPETITIVE HOCKEY IN DISTRICT 4
Starting in the 2007-2008 season there will be changes made to how the Associations in District 4 run their competitive hockey programs. These changes fall in line with the creation of the new “AAA” hockey program operating in ODMHA. District 4 is made up of the following Associations: Almonte-Pakenham, Carleton Place, Osgoode-Rideau, Perth-Lanark, Richmond-Munster, Stittsville and West Carleton Minor Hockey Associations.
The Ottawa Valley Titans will continue to be the top program for District 4 players to compete and aspire to play for. They will now be playing in the newly formed ODMHL “AAA” Hockey League. This league will comprise of (5) newly formed “AAA” programs across the ODMHA from Minor Bantam to Major Midget. However, the Titans will not be changed and will still represent District 4 and 5 at the Tier 1 level and still offer the following teams:
(1) Major Atom Play in the ODMHL “AA” League
(1) Minor Peewee Play in the ODMHL “AA” League
(1) Major Peewee Play in the ODMHL “AA” League
(1) Minor Bantam Play in the ODMHL “AAA” League
(1) Major Bantam Play in the ODMHL “AAA” League
(1) Minor Midget Play in the ODMHL “AAA” League
(1) Major Midget Play in the ODMHL “AAA” League
The District 4 Executive has taken this opportunity to restructure competitive hockey within District 4 at the Tier 2 level. In the past, not every Association was able to supply their membership with the opportunity to play “A” level hockey (Tier 2). This new District Tier 2 program will solve that problem as well as making our District teams more competitive with the rest of the ODMHA. Other ODMHA Tier 2 teams will be stronger as they will benefit from the downloading of players from the new “AAA” league, which is now a combination of associations at the Tier 1 level.
The new Tier 2 Program will ice the following teams:
(2) Major Atom Play in the ODMHL “A” League
(2) Minor Peewee Play in the ODMHL “A” League
(2) Major Peewee Play in the ODMHL “A” League
(1) Minor Bantam Play in the ODMHL “AA” League
(1) Major Bantam Play in the ODMHL “AA” League
(1) Minor Midget Play in the ODMHL “AA” League
(1) Major Midget Play in the ODMHL “AA” League
This new Tier 2 program will be open to all players in District 4. There will be no maximum or minimum player representation from any one Association. The program will benefit from the vast coaching experience present in the District, as the coaching opportunities will be open to all Associations.
There will be an open forum scheduled as soon as possible to allow people to find out more about the program and bring forward any questions or concerns that they might have. Information regarding this forum as well as coaching applications will be forwarded to all District 4 Associations for posting to their membership.
